Inspired by the project "A Year of Mornings" by Maria Alexandra Vettese and Stephanie Congdon Barnes, we wanted to do a photography project of our own that would allow us to interact and inspire each other everyday (or almost everyday, as our lives allow). We decided on a back-and-forth game, Michele takes a photo, sends it to me, I take a photo inspired by it, send it to her, she takes a photo inspired by my photo and so on. We are posting the photos in two diptychs every cycle to show the inspiration for each new photo. It is exciting to see the connection between the images.
Michele lives with her husband and two boys in a small village in Belgium, and I live with my partner, Eric and our daughter just outside of New York City. Michele and I have known each other for almost twenty years but have lived away from each other for over ten years now. This daily interaction and inspiration is our virtual way of spending time together. Its not the same as having a jam jar of red wine in the same room with my best friend, but its something.
